Host: Jim Braun

Description:
Woodsongs Coffeehouse Milwaukee Chapter is dedicated to providing a stage for local, regional, and touring musicians, singer/songwriters to enjoy each other's company, music, and mutual encouragement and give an audience a chance to explore the rich world of music that exists in their own hometown in a clean, safe, family friendly environment! Northwest Baptist Church in Wauwatosa (Milwaukee), Wisconsin is the perfect venue for this Woodsongs Coffeehouse. It is held in the old church which is now, the youth and activity room. With its knotty pine beams and ceiling and indirect lighting, it gives a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere for both artist and audience. It features a 16 channel sound system, a 10 X 20 stage with full lighting and seating for up to 150! You can find a chair, pick a sofa or recliner and just kick back, relax, and enjoy the music! Each Coffeehouse features two performers and is hosted by Jim Braun, a local gospel and country singer/songwriter. The format is similar to the televised Woodsongs Show so we not only get to hear some great music from local and regional talent but we get to find out a little about the artists backround, how they started, and who influenced their music, etc! The Coffeehouse is usually the 3rd Sunday of the month but please call the hotline to be sure. Doors open at 5:30PM and the Coffeehouse starts at 6:30PM and goes to about 9:00PM with a 30 minute intermission. Refreshments are available all night and they include homemade pies, cakes, and cookies, coffee (of course) tea, juice and soda with a wide range of other snacks and beverages. Please note that this a non-smoking and non-alcoholic venue! Suggested donation is usually $10 with a $2 discount if you bring a non-perishable food item for the churches food pantry. Artists are compensated at 90% of the donations the church retains the what they make on the refreshment sales. Artists of all ages and genre's are encouraged to submit a demo CD or contact Jim Braun for an audition or provide a website where we can listen to a sample of their music as this is a family environment and we do monitor content. Genre's of music range from folk, country, and bluegrass to jazz, the blues and anything in between! You can go totally acoustic, just use a mic, or plug everything in! Whether you're a solo act or 6 piece band, we would love to take a listen and get you on our schedule!

Website: www.westks.com/aberdeen
Email: crosscreek6@yahoo.com
Phone: 785-626-3740  785-538-2363

Description:
The 1907 Shirley Opera House was placed on the Kansas and National Registers of Historic Place in 2007 - just in time for her 100th birthday.  Restoration of the upstairs has been underway since 2008 with the goal of returning it to its original purpose as a performance/dance/community gathering hall.  In the meantime we have been hosting live music of all types twice a month.  We have been extremely priviledged to draw international musicians as well as supporting young, newly beginning performers.  We have hosted two historic documentary groups and offered dance classes.  We hold 50 guests in the main floor and serve buffet style meals prior to the music, but meals are not required for attending the event.  100% of the ticket take and CD sales go to the performers and we provide lodging for them at our family farm.

We have a BOSE system for the performers to use and the acoustics are lovely - the authentic old west atmosphere lends magic to the events.  Our grandchildren represent 7 generations in Rawlins County.  My grandmother's high school commencement was held at the Opera House.

Our local public radio station that hosts WoodSongs is High Plains Public Radio out of Garden City, KS - they have been very supportive of our venue on behalf of the musicians who sometimes also perform for their Living Room Concert series.

Every month Brattleboro Community Radio, a broadcaster of The Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, sponsors an open "no mic" at Mocha Joe's Coffee House in downtown Brattleboro, Vermont. We call it a "no mic" because the place is so small we do not need microphones. In addition to musicians, we have poets, writers, and other performers. The event has become a huge success and is packed every time it is held. The array of talent of all ages is incredible, and has helped us all get through the cold winters up here.

Description:
This WoodSongs Coffeehouse just celebrated its 6th year on campus. Jim Rogers began presenting WoodSongs Coffeehouses on campus back in 2003. The original coffeehouse started at McMahon Dining Hall and now moves from dining hall to dining hall based on where I am currently working. We hold the coffeehouse four times per year, two each semester. The events are quite popular and we usually see over 100 students. As I write this we are gearing up for the first annual WoodSongs Singer/Songwriter Contest, which will feature Lara Herscovitch as a guest performer and judge. Lara is the current State Of Connecticut Troubadour.

The main theme of our coffeehouses has always been student talent. We always keep it acoustic ranging from Folk, Blues, Rock, Bluegrass, County, Jazz and Classical. We have a very nice sound system and everything you could possibly need to perform (talent and instruments not provided). We have hosted local high school students, alumni, current students, staff, area music schools and friends.

The coffeehouses feature the musical renditions of current UCONN students, grads, employees, families and friends. This is our 6th year of WoodSongs coffeehouses and they get bigger and better. If you have any questions or if you would like to be considered  for a spot to play, please email Jim at james.rogers@uconn.edu.

We do not (nor will we ever) charge for admission, or snacks. We always have fresh baked cookies, vegan brownies, and fresh popped popcorn. Fair trade coffee and soda are also free.

Located downtown Lexington across the street from the historic Kentucky Theatre, Natasha's has quickly become a dynamic spot for live music, theatre, dance and just about any entertainment we can book. An urban and eclectic space provides for great acoustics and intimacy with the audience. We are a full service bistro serving a broad menu of everything from bison burgers, gourmet pizzas, stir frys and pastas to Asian salads. We also have a full service bar, homemade desserts and coffees from around the world.

All interested bands may call for details on booking. We do not have sound equipment, so the artist must have their own.

Natasha's has dedicated it's venue to the nurturing and promotion of great talent and has turned the bistro into an arts and entertainment destination. "We are defiantly too funky to franchise".
